Geodesic Dome Pack
The Geodesic dome pack is a great way to introduce Buckminster Fuller's Geodesis Sphere. It contains 20 equilateral triangles and 60 isosceles triangles. Five of these isosceles triangles are used to replace each pentagon used in the construction of the Icosidodecahedron and create the curved surface of the dome. Ideal for demonstrating geometric and design concepts. Construction information included. Available in two fluorescent colour combinations - red/yellow, blue/red.
Constructing the Sphere:
The Geodesic Dome was invented by Dr. Walter Bauersfeld, chief of the Zeiss Optical Works plant in Jena (Germany). You can find more information concerning this invention at : http://www.telacommunications.com/geodome.htm However, the Dome became famous worldwide thanks to Richard Buckminster Fuller's dome structures. A comprehensive page on his thought along with a complete bibliography can be found at http://www.cruzio.com/~joemoore/Strategy/GrandStrategy.htm An interesting contribution on geodesic dome mathematics: http://www.cjfearnley.com/fuller-faq-4.html#ss4.2 |
